Engine management systems

Lemmen Engineering has experience with several brands of engine management systems, including MoTeC, DTA-Fast and OEM Rover ECU’s. The experience is mainly based on off-road racing cars including an entry-level Rover-based Tomcat to a full FIA-spec Red-Lined Nissan Navara 4×4.  

MoTeC 

A lot of (offroad) rallying vehicles are equiped with MoTeC engine management, power management and logging equipment. These devices provide enormous flexibility in operation, configuration and diagnostics. Unfortunately, most of the time the configuration in a rally car is not optimized. With the experience and know-how of Lemmen Engineering the performance, fail-safety and on-board diagnostics can be greatly improved. Also, special feature requests can generally be easily implemented. For example automatic enabling of lights, specific key configurations, diagnostics on PDM outputs etc.

Within Lemmen Engineering we have hands-on experience with the following MoTeC devices. However, also with different MoTeC devices we can provide support and customizations.

Rover V8 EFI programming

Early V8 Land Rovers and Range Rovers are equipped with the Lucas 14CUX fuel injection system. This system is also referred to as the “hotwire” injection. When changing something of the engine, such as the intake, heads, compression or exhaust, the engine management should be adjusted accordingly to have an optimal combustion. Since the 14CUX ECU is not reprogrammable this is not a straight-forward task. Lemmen Engineering has the tooling and experience to do real-time remapping of a 14CUX injection system on a rolling road. Specifically for off-road rally racing cars. Adjusting the injection system on a rolling road ensures that the injection system is perfectly adjusted for the engine, resulting in optimal power, reliability and fuel economy. We can do performance engines as well as road-going cars.

  • Full injection remap on a rolling road
  • Reprogramming ECU for any type of engine (3.5L, 3.9L, 4,0L, 4.6L, 5.0L, 5.2L)
  • Remove road speed limit
  • Adjusting idle speed

  • Adjust overrun fueling (introduce or remove popping and flames when shifting)
  • Extending fuel map (from 5500 rpm to 6250 rpm or more)
